about

"Le Temps Perdu" is a very popular classic chill- out album by PNFA. Ten hauntingly beautiful tracks fuse together elements of Trip-hop, Downtempo, Dub, Lounge and Latin Jazz with a deep atmospheric undertone. Tracks like "Lanetama" manage to combine seemly unmatching genre elements like deeply chilled lounge chords with an upbeat Latin Jazz rhythm in a way that can barely be heard anywhere else. Other pieces like "Veeb" or "Le Temps Perdu" are employing classical dub rhythms and chords, which can be found fractured throughout the album, but it's quite unique how they blend together with classical analogue Trip-Hop rhythms like in "Maya" or "Tihuana". Wolfram Gruss, the composer behind PNFA wrote and produced this album in 2001 on analogue and digital samplers and synthesizers and similar to the method of Portishead recorded his loops and samples on analogue tape and afterwards resampled them to breathe live into the digital production. "Le Temps Perdu" marks a milestone in PNFA's discography, which 21 years after it was first released on CD, has been carefully remastered for broad digital distribution.

PNFA Frankfurt Am Main, Germany

PNFA a.k.a. Popular Nightmare Folk Art has been a landmark in the world of electronic music since the first release in 1996. Ever since PNFA serves DJs and a tremendously growing listenership with an exquisite fusion menu including i.e. a little bit of jazzy licks as appetizer, a violently deep distorted bassline as entree and a fine light drum'n'bass or house beat as desert. ... more
